Welcome to our website. Here you will find information about our values and tradition, our services and programs and our research and advocacy work. I encourage you to explore this site.
Good Shepherd Youth & Family Service is proud of the work we do to connect those most vulnerable in society to community, just as a shepherd cares for those on the edge of a flock. We were established in 1976 by the Sisters of the Good Shepherd and continue in their footsteps with a strong focus on women and girls.
As well as providing innovative and practical solutions that enable people to achieve greater independence, our organisation is committed to researching the challenges of social justice and advocating for systemic change.
Our strategic priorities for the period 2010 - 2015 are built upon the vision and mission of Good Shepherd, begun in Australia almost 150 years ago. They include positioning our services to achieve life-giving outcomes for the most disadvantaged; striving for a more just society; building capability in the communities in which we work; and fostering creative and flexible partnerships based on inclusion, respect and a shared commitment to justice.
