The L2P Learner Driver Mentor program assists learners 16-20 years of age to gain the driving experience required to apply for a probationary licence. Young people are matched with fully licensed volunteer mentors and provided with the use of a vehicle to gain supervised driving experience.
Volunteers participating in L2P are vital to its success. Find out how to become a volunteer driving mentor.
L2P is for young people aged 16 - 20 who live, work or study in the City of Yarra, including the suburbs of Collingwood, Richmond, Fitzroy, Clifton Hill, Alphington and parts of Carlton. L2P supports young people who do not have a family member or a vehicle to get the supervised learner driver experience required before taking a driver licence test.
L2P gives young people the opportunity to achieve their goals and develop safe and lawful driving habits for life.
For the many young people involved in our program who are newly arrived refugees, L2P not only provides practical driving skills, but also helps to improve language skills and broadly supports their settlement in Australia.
