Learner driver mentors - L2P

Volunteer learner driver mentors with our L2P program spend 2-3 hours each week helping young people get the driving experience they need.

We provide training, insurance, a safe vehicle and ongoing support. Women and men from all cultural backgrounds are encouraged to get involved.

Volunteering as a driver supervisor is meaningful, practical and rewarding. It is an opportunity to play a positive, caring role in the life of a disadvantaged young person. Training in working with disadvantaged young people is provided and ongoing support is available. Volunteers can choose the times that suit them best.

What are the requirements of volunteer driver mentors?

Requirements include:

  • full Victorian Driver Licence and good driving record (preferably a minimum of 10 years driving experience)
  • commitment of at least two hours per week for 12 months
  • satisfactory completion of Police, Drivers Licence and Working With Children checks
  • satisfactory completion of an eyesight test (free of charge via Medicare).

In exchange for mentoring a young adult I get to be inspired by a young adult who challenges the way I view the world.
